My daughter is 10 and we cannot get her to sit in a dentist chair for a simple checkup let alone treatment. Her fears and anxiety attacks are too overwhelming for her. Holding her down doesn't work either, and she won't take oral medications to calm her and can't get her to sit to try sweet air either. I've been trying to find a dentist who does sedation dentistry as she's devloping some major dental issues now. I know we'd have to hold her down for the initial iv insertion but I know in the long run the dental work getting done is more important. But everyone I've called say they do not do kids.
Can anyone help me find someone to provide dental care for my daughter?

My daughter is 9 and has the same issues. We began seeing Dr. John Melinski in Merrick when she was about 4 years old and would hold her down for regualr cleanings. It took 2 staff and my husband and myself to hold her. When Dr. Melinski decided it was time to have x- rays and do the sealants, he recommended sedation as well. He did it in his office with an anesthesiologist that he uses regularly. His staff were wonderful and very accomodating. I highly recommend him. Hope this helps!
