"Especially for Parents"
Wednesday, February 27th from 8:00 - 9:30 pm
An Evening with Michele Iallonardi and Dr. Michael Gruttadauria discussing, Autism: A Starting Point.Once Upon a Treetop, Inc. is very proud to present two powerful advocates for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
There is (and always has been) a lot of confusion as to what Autism and the Autistic Spectrum Disorders are. We understand Autism to be a biochemical and neurological problem that alters the way the brain and body develop and eventually results in the social, behavioral and communication problems that these individuals experience. These characteristics are symptoms and results of a multi-system breakdown that went undiagnosed! We have let an entire generation of children slip through our fingertips and it is time to mobilize and get them back.
If the top three defining characteristics were; under-connected brain circuitry, chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction and underlying autoimmune/inflammatory processes, we would see a very different treatment criteria established for Autism! In fact, these three things are the true problems of Autism, based on the research, which eventually lead to the cognitive impairments.
This presentation is based on the personal and professional experiences of Michele and Dr. Mike. The goal of the evening is that you come away with a new understanding of what Autism is, how people deal with it and what you can do right now to change its course. It just might be the best night you have had in a while, and serves as our kickoff to the 8 week "Especially for Moms" discussion group for parents of special needs children!
About Michele and Dr. Mike
Michele Iallonardi has three amazing boys, Jackson, Bennett and Luca. All of her boys were all diagnosed with Autism, and they were her inspiration to become an advocate for children with autism. Her son Jackson was featured in the documentary “Autism Every Day,” which was screened at the Sundance Film festival, and featured on “Good Morning America,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The View,” “Martha Stewart,” MSNBC, and CNN. She is active in local autism organizations and was part of a panel interviewed on “Larry King Live.” You can see Jackson featured on News12 at

Michael A. Gruttadauria, DC, DACAN is the founder and Clinical Director of The Long Island Spectrum Center. He achieved Diplomate status in Neurology from the Carrick Institute in 1993, but it was not until 2003 when his 18 month old daughter was diagnosed with Autism that his professional focus became childhood developmental disorders. With both a personal and professional interest in Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Dr. Gruttadauria brings passion and enthusiasm to the evaluation and treatment of these children. In 2006, Dr. Gruttadauria created a research-based treatment program called Neuro-Enhancement Therapy (N.E.T.). This unique set of protocols combines a functional neurological, bio-chemical examination and educational/cognitive assessment with hemisphere-based brain balancing, multi-sensory integration, IT-based cognitive stimulation and diet/nutrition.
